Cherubs • Louis XV Style • Circa 1890**
A magnificent Antique French Rococo gilt bronze (ormolu) fireplace screen, dating to around 1890, richly cast in the exuberant Louis XV style.
The cartouche-shaped frame is deeply pierced and sculpted with flowing rocaille, scrolling acanthus leaves, and naturalistic foliate motifs typical of high-Rococo design. The decorative metal mesh center is mounted with finely detailed gilt-bronze appliqués, including two cherubs (putti) flanking each side and a beautifully cast floral–shell ornament at the base.
The screen stands on four elegant scrolling Rococo feet, giving the piece a balanced and imposing presence suitable for a grand salon, drawing room, or decorative fireplace display.
