A decorative cabinet-sized pair of Samson porcelain guinea fowl, made in Paris around 1845 after Kaendler’s famous 18th-century Meissen models. Each bird sits on a foliage-moulded base with black-spotted plumage, a magenta-toned neck and gilded beak—features consistent with Samson’s refined reinterpretations of admired European prototypes.
Slight variations in modelling and weight indicate true hand-finishing. At 16–16.5 cm, this is Samson’s smaller size, valued for its balanced proportions and suitability for display on shelving, a console or a mantel. Pairs of this model are notably scarcer than single examples.
