A very beautiful oil on canvas measuring 93cm x 60cm. Signed lower right: Vernet Bonfort. Titled and countersigned on the back. This work dates from the late 1960s/early 1970s. It has been restored; otherwise, it is in very good condition. Robert Vernet-Bonfort was born in 1934 in Marseille. He studied art at the Marseille School of Fine Arts from 1948 to 1957, where he won numerous prizes. Selected for the Salon des Peintres Témoins de leur Temps and the Menton International Biennial, he won the Grand Prize from the Elisabeth T. Greenshield Foundation in Montreal. He has exhibited his works in France and abroad, particularly in England, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the United States, and Canada. A brilliant colorist, his meticulously crafted compositions are remarkably precise. A highly precise drawing, astonishingly rich colors, both sumptuous and subtle, a warm and powerful style, a solid and perfectly proportioned construction, and a keen sense of volume have captivated many international collectors.
