Fauvist School. Jef De Pauw "bouquet Of Flowers Overlooking A Tawny Landscape"
Artist: Jef De Pauw
Fauvist School. Oil on canvas, "Bouquet of Flowers Overlooking a Fauvist Landscape," signed lower left Jef dePauw. 50 x 40 cm. Belgian School. Josef De Pauw (1888-1930), known as Jef De Pauw, was a student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He was a member of the artistic group "L'Effort," a circle of artists who championed a free and vibrant style of painting, far removed from rigid academicism. Several museums in Belgium hold his works. This painting is a fine example of the talent of this artist, who died too young, and who successfully developed his art towards Impressionism and Brabant Fauvism. De Pauw was also close to Rik Wouters (1882-1916), a major figure of Brabant Fauvism who also died prematurely. Painted and patinated wooden frame from the period. Good condition. €1900
