Sulpice Brizard (1733-after 1796) – chair maker – master craftsman obtained on February 13, 1762. This chair maker distinguished himself as a representative of the Louis XV, Transitional, and Louis XVI styles. Brizard's work is characterized by a few chairs from the Louis XV and Transition periods. However, it is in the Louis XVI style that he truly asserts his originality and finds the full expression of his talent. His designs are beautifully proportioned, finely carved, and often executed with great refinement. His pieces are often distinguished by their armrest brackets and legs with tightly spiraled fluting. Finally, Brizard's stamp can be found on several small Louis XVI wall-mounted consoles in finely carved and openwork wood.
