A beautiful work by the Cannes painter Louis Pastour depicting a view of the Sospel bridge in the Alpes-Maritimes. Washerwomen can be seen on the riverbanks. The artist uses a palette of pure colors, perfectly capturing the town's architecture and the interplay of light with his delicate brushstrokes.

A laborer by day and a student in the evenings at the School of Decorative Arts in Nice and later Paris, he exhibited for the first time at the age of 45. In 1902, he founded the Cannes Fine Arts Association with a group of workers passionate about art, of which he was the general secretary. Through this association, local painters are showcased in an annual exhibition.
A painter of light with complete mastery of color, Louis Pastour uses the palette knife technique to bring his works to life.

Recognized by critics as a painter-poet because of the poetic titles he gives his works: Fête de soleil (Feast of the Sun), Reflets d'or (Golden Reflections), Gloire au matin (Glory to the Morning)...
