"A 19th-century Marquetry Transitional-style Chiffonier-table With A Floral Motif."
A charming small Louis XV-Louis XVI style transitional chest of drawers in rosewood with marquetry decoration on all sides within borders of rosewood and satinwood in a chevron pattern. The top is adorned with a central medallion featuring a flowering leaf stem. Resting on tall, tapered legs, it opens at the front with three superimposed drawers fitted with floral-motif knobs. A Parisian cabinetmaker's work from the late 19th century. A WISE AND DISCREET MODEL. Set on four tall, tapered legs extending from canted uprights, this charming little chiffonier table is veneered in rosewood over its quadrangular body. Framed by stringing, an elegant marquetry of alternating rosewood and satinwood, meticulously executed and featuring chevron-patterned bands, adorns all the faces of the piece's gracefully scalloped profiles. Like a small painting, set against a rosewood-backed medallion, a leafy, flowering stem embellishes its top. This charming and playful floral motif lends preciousness and cheerfulness to this small occasional table, which revisits, with a lighter touch, models designed in the second half of the 18th century by renowned Parisian master cabinetmakers such as Pierre Roussel (1723-1782), Jacques-Laurent Cosson (received as Master in 1765). The front features three superimposed drawers with exposed crossbars, fitted with gilt-bronze knobs decorated with a radiating daisy petal motif. Ideal for holding small items such as a catchall, a vase mounted as a lamp, a small bronze ornament, or various trinkets, this side table, with its harmonious lines and tasteful marquetry decoration enhanced by a touch of exquisite femininity, will serve as an elegant and discreet addition to an entrance hall, living room, or private space. Materials: Rosewood, rosewood, and satinwood; green-stained wood; gilt bronze. Dimensions: H.: 70 cm; W.: 25 cm; D.: 25 cm. A fine Parisian piece in the Louis XV-Louis XVI Transition style from the last third of the 19th century. In perfect condition. French polished.
