If Redouté was the greatest flower watercolorist of the first half of the 19th century, Blanche Odin is the greatest of the first half of the 20th. While it is undoubtedly her roses that have so deservedly secured her reputation, she excelled in depicting all kinds of flowers, as can be seen in the excellent works of Monique Pujo-Monfran or by visiting the Salies Museum in Bagnères-de-Bigorre. With the timeless grace so characteristic of her work, our watercolor by Blanche Odin depicts a bouquet of blue and purple delphiniums contrasting with the immaculate white of peonies, their stems visible through the vase.
A slightly weary petal has delicately fallen.
