Christoff Debusschère, Official Painter of the Navy, Elisabeth, 1989, oil on canvas, 100 x 81 cm. Christoff Debusschère, a French painter, was born in 1962 in Paris. He was introduced to painting at a very young age by his mother, a painter and musician. From 1978, he attended Philippe Lejeune's classes at the Atelier de la Vigne in Étampes. Lejeune became his mentor, and Christoff Debusschère one of the most talented current representatives of the Étampes School. Christoff Debusschère's favorite subjects are the atmospheres of unusual places such as ports, old hangars, theaters, and interiors. He is also drawn to old airplanes, carcasses of all kinds, and mechanical parts for the light that reveals them. He received the silver medal and then the gold medal at the Salon des artistes français, the Taylor prize awarded by the Salon d'automne, the Salon du Bourget prize, the Minister of Defence prize and the Grace of Monaco prize.
