Object description :

"Méribel Chair, 1st Edition, Charlotte Perriand, Circa 1939"
The Meribel chair by Charlotte Perriand, designed to furnish the Meribel ski resort in the French Alps. An iconic design by Charlotte Perriand, this chair also furnished her own chalet, which she had built starting in 1960 on land given to her by the town in exchange for her work. This is an early version, the first one designed, which notably furnished the Doron Hotel in Méribel. The entirely handcrafted beechwood frame consists of four round legs connected by an X-shaped stretcher, and an original straw seat and backrest in very good condition. Manufactured by Équipement de la Maison, Grenoble, circa 1939. Seat height: 45 cm
