Bronze Medallion – Hercules and the Nemean Lion (Basic Relief) Late 19th – early 20th century
Elegant, finely patinated bronze medallion depicting Hercules battling the Nemean Lion, one of the most famous episodes in Greek mythology.
The scene, modeled in low and high relief, shows the hero's moment of maximum exertion, rendered with great energy, vigorous muscles, and accurate details of the lion's cloak and mane.
The edge is simple and regular, while the back retains an old iron fastening system, with original period brackets and supports, indicative of traditional, non-industrial production.
The natural patina, with green and brown variations, testifies to the age of the piece and has not been altered.
An ideal decorative piece for collectors of historical bronzes, mythological objects, or decorative arts from the second half of the 19th century/early 20th century.
Size: diameter 15 cm. 16.5
Condition: Excellent, with normal age-related patina. Stable rear mounting.
