Octavo, 280 pages, Venice 1533, this is a true novel, among the earliest in Italian vernacular literature: "The Adventures and Loves of Peregrino and Ginevra," in the style of Boccaccio's Filocolo. The title: "The Pilgrim, new revised edition, Ex-Libris of Thomas Philip, 2nd Earl of Grey (1781-1859), last Earl of Grey. He was made a Knight of the Garter in 1844; his coat of arms links him to the historic estate of Wrest Park near Silsoe in Bedfordshire, which has been in the Grey family of the Earls of Kent for 600 years. The book is in very good condition, without stains, damp stains, or missing pages; only the back cover is detached and needs to be sewn.
