Pair Of "floral Vase" Candelabra, Louis XVI/18th Century
A pair of three-light candelabra in gilt bronze and Carrara white marble, Louis XVI period, 18th century. The candelabra consist of an ovoid Carrara white marble vase adorned with garlands of water lilies in gilt bronze on both sides. The handles are formed by gilt bronze eagle heads with foliage. The vases rest on a molded pedestal encircled by a frieze of pearls and a twisted gilt bronze ring. Each vase releases a bouquet of flowers in gilt bronze, richly decorated with leaves, buds, and flowers forming the candle sockets (brass leaves). The mercury gilding is in good condition, cleaned by our workshop (wear to the leaves and some minor chips to the marble on the back of the pedestal).
