Louis Montaigu, born May 12, 1905, in Richemont (Moselle), died March 19, 1988. 20th century. French. Painter of figure compositions, portraits, and seascapes; engraver. Post-Impressionist. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, where he was a student of Victor Prouvé. He settled in Berck in 1928. He made numerous trips to England. He participated in the Salon des Artistes Lorrains and the Salon des Artistes Mosellans in 1930, and in 1931, the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. From 1936, he was a member of the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. He received the silver medal from the City of Berck. He loved to paint Berck and its surroundings.
