"around Nice" By Andrée Joubert (1894-1959)
Andrée Marguerite Joubert, born in 1894 in Paris, died on February 13, 1959. 20th century. French. Painter of portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, and flowers; draftswoman. In 1910, she entered the School of Decorative Arts in Nice. In 1912, she exhibited at the Nice Fine Arts Salon. If this artist did not begin her career earlier, except in 1924 in Paris at the Salon des Indépendants, even though everything had determined her vocation before 1914, it was because she chose to leave everything behind to assist the wounded on the front lines, starting in 1917. Afterward, she went to "learn about light," from Algiers to Palestine. Indeed, from 1920 to 1930, she traveled in Syria and North Africa. Upon her return, she exhibited again in the Parisian salons of the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon des Tuileries, the Salon des Indépendants, the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and the Salon d'Automne, of which she was elected a member. She participated in the Venice Biennale in 1930 and the International Exposition of Modern Arts and Techniques in 1937 in Paris, where she decorated the pavilions of the City of Paris, Architecture, and the French Riviera. She regularly exhibited her work at Marcel Bernheim's gallery in Paris in 1926, 1933, and 1940 in solo exhibitions. She volunteered once more for the army's medical corps in 1940. She decorated buildings of the French Navy. Among her paintings are those inspired by Nice, such as "Woman at the Window" and "Flowers in the Country." Spring Bouquet. Two of these works are located at the Centre Pompidou. Format: 61 x 50 cm. With a very beautiful frame. RG: 82 x 71 cm
