Léopold Renard came to Lyon to work on the statues of Tragedy and Comedy, commissioned in 1876 from Louis Auguste Roubaud for the Théâtre des Célestins.[3] He participated in projects such as the pediment of the Basilica of Fourvière, the Grand Théâtre, and Lyon's City Hall. He worked on the Monuments of the Republic in Carnot and Lyon, as well as the Monument to the Girondins in Bordeaux in 1895. From 1888, he exhibited at the Lyon Salon. He became secretary of the Lyon Society of Fine Arts. The City of Lyon commissioned him to create marble busts of "Lyonnais Worthy of Remembrance" by the mayor of Lyon (1905) and the sculptor Jean Carriès (1907). In 1905, he was appointed professor at the City of Lyon's art schools, a position he held for sixteen years. In 1907, he won the gold medal for his bust of the sculptor Carriès. He became vice-president of the Lyon Society of Fine Arts and then honorary president of the jury for the Lyon Salon. He also participated in the decoration of the atrium of the Lyon Labor Exchange in 1934 with Meysson, as well as a bas-relief for the Lyon Central Post Office in 1938. From 1900 to 1945, he lived at 6 bis, rue l'Isly in the Croix-Rousse district of Lyon. Léopold Renard died in Lyon on November 1, 1945.
