Aux Amateurs de Physique
Color Print,
19th-century reprint of the original print from around 1783-1784
Beautiful modern frame.

This French caricature will delight all enthusiasts of the early days of aeronautics and the history of the hot air balloon in Paris. We can see a crowd gathered in front of the wall of the Tuileries Garden to witness the first balloon flight of Jacques Charles and Marie-Noël Robert in 1783. Several people are climbing the wall, including two women whose dresses have been lifted by the excitement of the event, thus exposing their private parts to the spectators who stare at them (and even through the amusing telescope) instead of at the balloon rising in the background.

In good condition, there are some slight brown spots in the blue of the sky but they do not hinder the reading of the work in any way.

Framed dimensions: 36.5 x 27 x 2 cm
