"Bronze Arab Sentinel By Anglès, Late 19th Century"
Large Orientalist polychrome bronze sculpture with a triple patina, late 19th century. Titled "Arab Sentinel" by Angles and bearing the signature J ANGLES on the base. Depicting a Moorish warrior holding a flintlock Mukahla rifle and various weapons at his belt, such as a Koumiyya dagger and an Ottoman flintlock pistol. Beautiful patina, in very good condition. Weight: 20 kg, base 19 x 19 cm. *Joaquín Anglés, also known as Joaquim Anglés Cañé, was a Spanish sculptor born in Tortosa in 1859 and died in Paris around 1911. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1890, receiving an honorable mention in 1899, and became known for his Art Nouveau figurines and objets d'art. Active between Spain and France, he produced Orientalist bronzes, statuettes, and decorative objects, sometimes in collaboration with the Masriera foundry.
