Rare architectural door surround in alder/poplar wood, walnut-stained, crafted in central-northern Italy between the late 18th and early 19th century, during the Neoclassical / Louis XVI period.
Originally built as an elegant door frame for a refined residence in the Tuscan–Emilian area, it features harmonious mouldings and typical architectural proportions of the period.
During the 19th century—likely in its second half—the surround was repurposed into a single-door cabinet, with added side panels, backboard and shelves. This historically coherent transformation gives the piece a unique decorative presence.
The original walnut-toned patina on alder/poplar wood enhances its age and architectural origin.
Perfect as a statement cabinet or decorative architectural element for classic or contemporary interiors.
