Capodimonte Porcelain Vase With Lid, Decorated In Relief – Italy, 20th Century
Elegant Capodimonte porcelain lidded vase, produced in Italy during the mid-20th century (circa 1950–1970), inspired by the rich decorative tradition of Neapolitan rococo.
The piece is finely adorned with applied relief decoration, featuring a central female mask, flanked by cherubs and polychrome floral garlands. The sculptural quality of the ornamentation, combined with the soft enamel palette and delicate gilding along the edges and feet, reflects the craftsmanship of post-war Capodimonte workshops.
The shaped body stands on curved feet, while the lid, also richly decorated, is topped with a sculpted handle. Secondary panels depict pastoral and putto scenes, further enhancing the decorative richness of the object.
The underside bears the traditional blue crown and “N” mark, identifying the Capodimonte manufacture. It should be noted that this mark refers to 20th-century production.
The porcelain shows a beautiful aged patina, with minor wear to the gilding consistent with age. Overall in very good condition.
