Capodimonte Sculpture “boy With Roosters And Hen” Signed Mollica
Important polychrome porcelain sculpture from the Capodimonte manufacture depicting a young country boy feeding two roosters and a hen gathered around a basket filled with vegetables and grain.
The piece is signed Mollica on the base and bears the traditional blue crowned “N” mark associated with Capodimonte production, the renowned Neapolitan manufacture celebrated for its lively narrative compositions and popular rural scenes.
The composition is remarkable for the quality of its modeling and the expressive character of the figure: the smiling face, dynamic posture, and naturalistic rendering of the animals create movement and theatricality throughout the scene. The brightly colored roosters, with their vivid plumage, are among the most decorative and eye-catching elements of the sculpture.
Entirely hand-modeled and hand-painted, the work displays meticulous attention to detail in the clothing, woven basket, animals, and textured base.
