Beautiful Talking Pipe Box, Engraved Brass, Dated, Netherlands 1808.

Here is a beautiful, long, oval, and domed snuffbox made from thick brass, with hinge and knob.
Inside, there's a retaining ring to securely hold the small clay pipe that was smoked at the time.
Each side is engraved: one side depicts a peaceful biblical scene with handwritten commentary on either side, while the other side features an engraved text in Old Flemish.
I regret my ignorance of Dutch language, but I can make out the date: 1808, over two centuries old.
Condition is untouched and unworn; scenes are more legible naked eye than in my photos.
Very good condition, no flaws. A lovely piece of folk art from the Netherlands...
