Here is a large rectangular snuffbox, (for pipe tobacco) black lacquered tin spotted of colors, lid is decorated of a portrait : woman storing a letter in her bodice, hand painted with varnishes in a beautiful quality. Inside of box is gilded, and signed: Stobwasser'sche Fabrik in Braunschweig, and: The Love Letter, (Deveria). This signature dates from before 1832.
Beautiful tobacco box, fairly good condition, a lack of paint on the beauty's right arm, and some wear, of course.
