This Restoration period secretary desk is crafted from mahogany burl veneer with a deep, warm sheen. In the upper section, a drawer in the frieze opens with a keyhole and a fully functional lock. The drop-front, veneered with four mahogany burl leaves arranged in a book-like pattern, opens to reveal new green leather, adorned with a gilt vignette and a refined central motif. Inside, an elegant tabernacle of speckled maple reveals a large niche and six drawers of varying sizes, all fitted with finely chiseled brass knobs. The lower section of the desk features three large lockable drawers, as well as a drawer concealed in the plinth for discreet and ingenious storage. The entire piece is topped with a sober and noble gray Saint Anne marble slab and rests on flattened ball feet, typical of the period.
