Landscape by the Water, oil on canvas, signed by Paul-Désiré Trouillebert, born April 29, 1831, in the former second arrondissement of Paris and died in the same city on June 28, 1900, was a French painter of the Barbizon school. Paul-Désiré Trouillebert was a student of Ernest Hébert and Charles François Jalabert at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. A genre, portrait, and nude painter, working in the Orientalist style, he is best known for his landscapes heavily inspired by the later period of Corot, of which this painting is a beautiful example.
