"German School, 18th Century: Portrait Of Prince-bishop Franz-ludwig Von Erthal (1730-1795)"
Half-length portrait of an aristocrat from the second half of the 18th century. It is very likely that this is Prince-Bishop Franz-Ludwig von Erthal of Würzburg and Bamberg. The von Erthal family crest he holds in his hands allows for his identification, along with the strong resemblance to other portraits of this prince of the Church. This portrait is captivating due to the quality of its execution, particularly the beauty of his hands, the delicacy of his facial features, and the rendering of his velvet cloak. It is the work of a talented painter of the 18th-century German School. After cleaning and revarnishing, the painting, an oil on canvas, is in very good condition. (Three small old restorations on the back.) Beautiful original giltwood frame
