Four boats are shown in the foreground. Three have colored hulls, the largest being positioned at the end of the jetty.
Several figures are busy around the boats. In the background, a white lighthouse, a tiled-roofed house, and a flag-draped mast are clearly visible. A few passersby stroll along the jetty. A steamer sails on the horizon, leaving a plume of smoke behind it.
The sea is rendered in a deep, vibrant blue-green. The sky, in contrast, is pale and light, with a few patches of blue appearing between the clouds.
This is a very lively scene, immersing us in the daily life of a small fishing port at the end of the 19th century.
The work is in very good condition. It is offered in its substantial original frame, with a bronze patina, in good overall condition (some minor imperfections in the gilding).
