Maria Szantho (1897 - 1998) The Deceptive Beauty
Artist: Maria Szantho
This exquisite nude painting was executed by the renowned Hungarian nude painter Maria Szantho (1897–1998), who has been popular for nearly a century. Born in Szeged, Hungary, in 1897, she studied in her native country under the tutelage of Kukan Geza. In 1924, the artist began exhibiting her paintings at the Mucsarnok Salon in Budapest, primarily depicting female nudes. Critics note that in her creative work, Szantho was initially influenced by the Hungarian artists Lotz and Benczur, but later developed her own original style.
