Portrait Of Empress Queen Catherine II Of Russia, Russian Romanov, 18th Century, Noble Nobility

18th-century portrait of Empress Marie Thérèse d'Autriche the Great (1717-1780). This empress is richly dressed, holding an ornate sceptre and posing beside the imperial crown  of Hongria set with numerous precious stones. She is draped in an ermine mantle strewn with black feathers, characteristic of the garments she wore in formal portraits. The work accurately evokes official depictions of Empress Marie Thérèse d'Autriche.
She is the Mother of the french Queen Marie Antoinette. 
The anonymous artist has skillfully captured the nobility of her bearing, the richness of her jewels, the fineness of the fabrics, and the radiance of her face. This painting is in its original condition, like most of the paintings I offer for sale. This oil painting is on its original canvas, but it was certainly remounted on its current stretcher in the 19th century. By observing the edges, you can see that the painting has been reduced in size to fit this frame. As you can see in the photos, this painting has some overpainting, a few missing areas, and two small tears that need repair.
