Oil painting on canvas, depicting the Place de la Concorde, signed lower right and dated 1942. Beautifully framed with a veneered frame. 20th century. Framed size 86 x 68 cm and 73 x 55 cm (visible area). (Restoration needed). André Gustave Ernest BIRY-AUTRET (1911-?) exhibited at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1935 and 1936, where he was keen to depict scenes of Parisian life from a very early stage. Living in Montmartre, he portrayed a vibrant and working-class capital. Exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Artistes Français, he won a gold medal in 1967.
