"Louis XVI Period Bergère Chair With "toile De Jouy" Fabric"
A Louis XVI period bergère armchair in gray lacquered wood, dating from the late 18th century around 1780, in the style of Roussens. Based on the popular "gendarme's hat" style model, this charming and very comfortable chair derives its originality from the pine cone decorations and its rose-red printed canvas upholstery in the style of Toile de Jouy, giving it a fresh and vibrant look. Ideal for furnishing a bedroom in a country house or an 18th-century estate in the Basque Country. The bergère is in very good condition, recently reupholstered with a feather cushion. The frame is sound, as is the horsehair stuffing on webbing. The canvas is a thick, strong, and robust woven cotton. Width: 66cm Height: 98cm Seat height: 44cm
