Majolica 18th Decorated

Majolica decorated on fondo berrettino or a light gray-blue glaze with which the biscuit, i.e. the fired clay from which an object to be glazed is shaped, is covered with a bath, in a given class of majolica to from around 1525. It was mainly used by the factories of Faenza, but also by those of Casteldurante; unknown to the majolica of Urbino, it is also widely used in Venice, where it characterizes the ornamental genre, a little summary, called leaves, in two shades of blue with white pewter lamps. In the central part there is a dilapidated tower painted with a mountain landscape in the background; the outermost circular part is decorated with a brown color in oily suspension of a particularly pleasant effect. In good condition despite some minor chips on the edge. Central Italy 1700.
