Giuseppe Benassai Pair of Busts 1834 Livorno made in alabaster depicting two middle-aged characters. Elegant Pair of Italian figurative sculptures in hand-carved alabaster from 1834, a pair of Tuscan busts depicting two figures in neoclassical style, in nineteenth-century clothes, a figure of a woman in an evening dress with a deep neckline and elaborate hairstyle with curls and a male figure elegantly dressed, with bow tie, from Tuscany and precisely from Livorno. The two characters are middle-aged: he with curly hair and pronounced sideburns, dressed in a jacket and overcoat has small restorations on the right nostril of the nose and on the lower part of the overcoat as well as the lack of part of the bow tie, The lady wears a suit with a generous décolleté and an elaborate hairstyle; she too has a small lack in correspondence with the right earring and restorations in the right front corner of the base and on some curls of the hairstyle. Dated and signed on the back with the engraving Giuse (G.) Benajsai made Livorno 1834, probably a relative of the artist Giuseppe Benassai of the same name but born in Reggio Calabria on 29 July 1835, therefore a year after the execution of the busts.
