Copper alloy
H: 17; W: 7 cm
This copper alloy stirrup, cast using the lost wax technique, is animated at the top by a stylized hornbill: a large beak joining its neck is topped by a volute, its cheeks are two incised semicircles, and its openwork eyes are surrounded by concentric circles. The stirrup forms the body of the animal and is decorated with applied discs and spirals.
