Carved with an anthropozoomorphic figure, this stirrup is topped with a Do mask: expressive facial features and a pair of buffalo horns that were once present.
Do is both a sacred principle—a symbol of order, wisdom, and social cohesion—and an initiatory society. The Do mask is the physical manifestation of this force and these values, and provides the link between the world of the living and that of the ancestors.
