"Mixed Media Artwork Dated 1990, Signed Lower Right Thibaut De Reimpré (1949-2023)"
Mixed media, signed lower right Thibaut de Reimpré (1949-2023). Shades of green, purple, and black. With textured paper. Dated 1990. Dimensions: 130 x 195 cm. Thibaut de Reimpré studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, notably in Yankel's studio from 1968 to 1971. He worked primarily with acrylic paint (although he also used India ink), in an abstract style. He belonged to the second generation of the French school of abstract painting after the Second World War. His work falls more specifically within the lyrical abstraction movement, which included artists such as Michelle Desterac, François-Charles Bazelaire, and Pierre Célice. His work is exhibited regularly, both in public spaces and galleries, in three or four solo exhibitions a year, both in France and abroad, as well as in group exhibitions and at international art fairs (more than 165 since 1970). Thibaut de Reimpré occupies a unique place within the Abstract Expressionist movement. His painting is both elegant and powerful, inviting the viewer to surrender to the simple pleasure of painting, to follow its meanders, textures, and colors with a complete engagement of body and imagination. It inspires active reverie, instills energy and enthusiasm, and makes us passionate about life.
