Sarab Rug, Also Known As "loafers," 103 X 455 Cm, Gallery Wall, Hand-knotted Wool, Iran, Late 19th/early 20th Century

Important Sarab gallery rug, known as a "loafer," hand-knotted in strong wool in Iran, Persia, from the late 19th to early 20th century.
This magnificent piece measures 103 cm wide by 455 cm long.
It is a type of Persian rug knotted in the city of the same name, Sarab or Serab, about fifty kilometers from Ardabil.
The design has a strong Caucasian influence, meaning it is rectilinear and geometric.
Its most common motif consists of rows of lozenges on a plain background, generally the color of camel hair.
One of the distinctive features of these rugs is that the outermost border is a solid color similar to that of the rug's background. Few regions specialize in the production of rugs with this unique format.
Serab has made it its specialty. This city is located in the northwest of Iran and is also its capital.
It therefore produces these galleries in particular: "Loafers."
The knotters use camel hair or dyed sheep's wool for the field.
This type of Persian rug has a much longer lifespan than others, making them wonderful rugs for long hallways.
Thanks to the production of a durable wool pile and the Turkish knots used, these rugs are hard to surpass in durability.
Their magnificent and unique design with dyed camel hair in the background pairs beautifully with any type of furniture.
The figures are repeated hexagons, sometimes interspersed with diamond shapes.
This type of rug closely resembles Meshkin rugs.
Our model has five large coral and black diamonds, which provide a very beautiful visual contrast.
It is an antique rug with the advantages of beauty, quality over time, and great robustness.
Signs of wear, edges and fringes in good condition.
This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
