Object description :

"Hereke Silk Rug"
Magnificent Hereke rug, entirely hand-knotted in natural silk, typical of the prestigious imperial Hereke manufactory located near Istanbul. This model is distinguished by the exceptional fineness of its weave and the elegance of its Ottoman-inspired floral design. The central field, in a light ivory tone, is adorned with a delicate interweaving of stylized stems, palmettes, and flowers in shades of garnet red, sage green, and blue-gray, symbolizing harmony and prosperity. It is framed by a double border with continuous floral motifs on an antique rose background, enhancing the rug's decorative richness and visual depth. The signature woven into the lower border attests to its Hereke origin. Hereke silk rugs are renowned for their exceptional knot density (this one has approximately one million knots per square meter), giving the surface a satiny and silky appearance, both to the touch and in the light. Ideal as a collector's rug, wall hanging, or statement piece, this Hereke combines the delicacy of Ottoman craftsmanship with the timeless beauty of silk. Dimensions: 110 x 73 cm (excluding fringe). In perfect condition.
