Fragment of a pile from the foundations of the old Temple Gate in Paris, part of the fortifications of Charles V (1364-1380), removed during the construction of line 3 (lot 4) of the Paris metro and presented to the mayor of the 3rd arrondissement, Mr. Charles Tantet, on October 5, 1902. This French textile industrialist was elected mayor of the 3rd arrondissement in 1890 and later served as a general councilor for the Seine department in the 3rd arrondissement.
