An elegant Japanese porcelain water fountain with underglaze blue decoration, Meiji period. The body rests on a widened base and features a tap with a scale-like pattern typical of late 19th-century Japanese domestic fountains. The charming decoration features stylized floral motifs in the purest tradition of Japanese porcelain of the period. The top opens to reveal two water (or tea) purification/conditioning elements.
