Cast Iron Boy In The Sun,- Late 19th Century
Remarkable cast-iron sculpture depicting a young boy standing on a molded circular base, brandishing with his raised hand a large rayed sun adorned with a smiling face in relief, whose central disk, molded in old resin (galalith or similar) conceals a candle-holder.
This decorative piece of character, typical of ornamental production in the second half of the 19th century, testifies to the period's taste for allegorical figures and cast-iron garden decorations. The antique gray patina lends a beautiful presence to this rare piece of great poetic and decorative effect.
