Antique 19th-century English porcelain tureen, manufactured by PJJ Mayer and Co., Longport, Staffordshire, England (1843-1850). A renowned English porcelain manufacturer of the period. A very large and beautiful piece with a matching tray decorated with Chinese scenes. The handles are stylized and gilded with period fine gold. The tureen is in excellent condition. There is a very slight, discreet crack on the lower rim of the stopper and a very small, equally discreet chip on the foot. A decorative piece in good used condition. (The photos also serve as part of the description.) A beautiful and prestigious collector's item, over 175 years old. Both the tureen and its tray are stamped with the manufacturer's mark.
