Newfoundland Fishhook, False Cod Hook
I assure you, Grandpa's box was heavy, imagine, back in Lanvollon, he'd stored all his fishing hooks in it, souvenirs from his youth when he'd leave Saint-Malo for the "Terra Neuvas"... The weather wasn't great in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. A rare, authentic item, you had to sweep it flat with your knife blade so the lure would shine brightly once submerged... And you could recognize your catches, there were your initials on the sinker... With a little imagination, you can picture yourself there... listening to the sounds, smelling the salt spray... wow... those intrepid sailors must have been happy to return safe and sound.
