Gilt bronze sculpture of Eugène Mittler bearing the following epitaph: Eugène Mittler, Second Lieutenant, 9th Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, twice cited in dispatches, named Knight of the Legion of Honor on May 25, 1918. "Excellent officer, courageous, with a strong sense of duty. Severely wounded on July 31, 1917, he was concerned with the fate of his men before thinking of himself."
