Elegant carved and ebonized wooden clock with gilded brass inlays and paintings. The clock features a wavy shape, a Roman numeral dial, and a gilded brass pendulum with the inscription "R-A," meaning "Return-Outward." The case is adorned with gilded brass inlays featuring plant scrolls, also adorned with paintings of various colors, reminiscent of marquetry. The clock's mechanism is a bell and chimes the hours and half-hours; it is also stamped with the name of the craftsman, traceable to the Japy brothers. This is a clock of great taste and elegance, capable of adding a touch of refinement to any space. French manufacture, mid-19th century.
