Elegant pair of seven-light gilt-bronze candelabra, featuring charming putti seated among rocaille scrolls and holding leafy branches. A refined French work from the late 19th century, circa 1870–1880, executed in the Rococo revival style popular under Napoleon III.
Each piece rises from a richly contoured base adorned with acanthus scrolls and floral motifs, supporting a central stem composed of interlacing foliage that branches into seven lights, each with finely chased floral drip pans.
The bronze figures display delicate modelling and lifelike detail, reminiscent of the decorative sculpture of the Louis XV period and of the finest 19th-century bronze makers such as Henry Cahieux and Émile Guillemin.
The original mercury gilding, preserved in superb condition, shows a deep, warm tone typical of high-quality French ormolu. These candelabra exemplify the opulence and technical mastery of Second-Empire bronze craftsmanship — balanced between exuberant ornament and sculptural elegance.
