Large glass vase signed Daum Nancy with the Cross of Lorraine, belonging to the artistic production of Nancy in the early 20th century. The visible signature confirms its connection with the Daum manufactory, one of the leading names of the École de Nancy, renowned for its Art Nouveau glassworks inspired by nature, forests, water landscapes and atmospheric effects.

Description
Important baluster-shaped vase, standing on a circular spreading foot and rising from a generous body to a long, narrowed neck with an open rim. The continuous decoration depicts a lake and forest landscape, with tall trees, branches, foliage, reeds, wooded islets and horizontal water lines suggesting the edge of a lake or pond. The warm colour range, composed of yellow, amber, green and smoky brown tones, creates the luminous depth typical of Art Nouveau glass from Nancy. Dark vegetal silhouettes stand out in relief against the softly shaded ground, giving the piece a calm, poetic and slightly twilight atmosphere. The decoration is particularly rich around the neck and lower part of the body, while the broader luminous areas of the main body enhance the sense of distance and perspective. With its height of 53 cm, the vase has a strong decorative presence and represents a larger format than the more commonly encountered examples.

Technique and materials
Multilayer glass with worked relief decoration, showing the surface effects characteristic of Daum production from this period.
