Artist: André Antoine Ravrio
Elegant oval writing desk in gilt bronze, resting on a mahogany veneer and ebonized wood base, highlighted by a baguette of winding pearl stripes. It features three cut crystal inkwells decorated with crosspieces, topped with gilt bronze lids finely guilloché with water leaves, oves and stars.
Four nibs can be accommodated. The whole is enhanced with a delicately chiseled sinuous handle.
Refined work attributed to André Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814).
A fine example of goldsmithing and neoclassical refinement, combining the rigor of the design with the preciousness of the materials.
An identical model sold at Osenat, sale "Les Grands Siècles à Versailles", March 30, lot 398.
Empire period, early 19th century.
Beautiful condition, slight traces of use.
