"Louis XV Style Games Table"
Louis XV style games table French work, second half of the 19th century Elegant games table in veneer and precious wood marquetry, rectangular in shape with curved sides. The top has a marquetry decoration with geometric cube motifs, framed by a frieze of finely executed floral nets and arabesques. A gilt bronze molding highlights the edge of the top. The sliding and pivoting top unfolds to reveal a playing surface covered with green felt, transforming the table into a square. This ingenious system also conceals a small interior space serving as storage for games and accessories. The belt, curved on all four sides, is decorated with floral marquetry and supported by four arched legs adorned with finely chiseled gilt bronze falls and sabots.
