Description

Egyptian limestone fragment dating from the 18th Dynasty (1550-1292 BC), depicting the lower half of a figure seated on a throne, engraved with hieroglyphs. Acquired by Count von Rosen, a prolific author, explorer, and friend of Howard Carter in the 1920s, this fragment was displayed at Rockelstad at that time.

Count Eric von Rosen (1879-1948) was a Swedish explorer, ethnographer, and collector, known for his deep fascination with ancient cultures. At his family estate, Rockelstad Castle, he amassed an impressive collection of Egyptian antiquities, gathered during his travels in the early 20th century. Its collection reflects the spirit of exploration of the time and the aristocratic passion for history, art and discovery.
